Eve Ensler, playwright and activist best known for her work "The Vagina Monologues," wrote a letter to the editor of the New York Times in response to their editorial in the letter section. "Humanitarian Aid for Rape Victims." The letter was published September 12,2011 in the New York Times The letter urges President Obama to end the strict interpretation of the Helms Amendment that bans using US Foreign Aid money for abortions.
