"This is My Witness" Screening and Panel Discussion

The event will start with a short screening of this documentary film, put together by the Nobel Women's Initiative. It will be followed by a panel discussion led by Myra Dahgaypaw, Campaigns Coordinator from U.S. Campaign for Burma and the Global Justice Center’s own Burma Researcher, Phyu Phyu Sann.

The evening will include the premiere of This is My Witness: Women of Burma Break the Silence a short documentary on the recent International Tribunal on Crimes Against Women of Burma. The film will be introduced by Nobel Peace Laureates Shirin Ebadi (2003), and Mairead Maguire (1976). Following the screening, Pat Mitchell and panel members will discuss how global and social media are fueling the democracy movement of Burma. Panelist include Nobel Peace Laureate Jody Williams; Lway Aye Nang, Women’s League of Burma; Annie Sundberg, Producer & Director; Burma Soldier Khin May Zaw, Radio Free Asia.

Janet Benshoof, President of the Global Justice Center, will be speaking at 6 Years Later, IWPR in Iraq: Giving Voice, Driving Change to celebrate the launch of the Institute for War & Peace Reporting's new online news and programming platform. Janet will be speaking alongside Ammar Al Shahbander, Chief of Mission at IWPR, and Sean Maguire, Global Editor for Political News at Thomson Reuters.

This event, hosted by the Nobel Women's Initiative and the Women's League of Burma, will seek to put on trial the crimes of the Burmese government. The Tribunal is a women-directed and women-centered justice and advocacy initiative. Judges will
hear testimony from several women of Burma who will share their personal stories of surviving human rights violations and crimes under military rule in Burma.
