UNSCR 1325 on Women, Peace and Security WorkShop

Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan
May - September 2007

Mandated by the OSCE Action Plan for the Promotion of Gender Equality, ODIHR organized, in cooperation with UNIFEM CIS, the first regional UNSCR 1325 initiative in Central Asia (regional roundtable in Kazakhstan, September 2006). With the exception of Turkmenistan, all Central Asian countries were represented. This includes awareness raising of the UNSCR 1325 provisions for relevant government and civil society actors, as well as elaboration on how the respective States can enhance their level of implementation.

Global Justice Center has organized four 2-day roundtables on the implementation of the UNSCR 1325 at national level for 30 participants each (12 representatives from civil society, 12 governmental representatives, 4 international actors, 2 ODIHR representatives) in the following Central Asian countries: Kyrgyzstan (May), Kazakhstan - covering Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan (May), Turkmenistan (August), Tajikistan (September).
